Electrical Properties of Dead Sea Water

چکیده
In this paper, dielectric measurements were carried out to obtain conductivity, permittivity (real and imaginary parts) loss tangent of Dead Sea water. These properties measured using two different methods: Vector Network Analyzer “VNA” (Dielectric Assessment Kit “DAK”) Four Probe method, all taken at room temperature (25˚C). The collected data has been analyzed in the frequency range (200 MHz - 9 GHz), by making a comparison between for water distilled water, results have shown that huge difference samples. conductivity is much larger than which expected because fact high salinity

Antimicrobial properties of Dead Sea black mineral mud.
BACKGROUND The unique, black, hypersaline mud mined from the Dead Sea shores is extensively used in mud packs, masks, and topical body and facial treatments in spas surrounding the lake, and in cosmetic preparations marketed worldwide, but little is known about its antimicrobiological properties. METHODS We performed detailed microbial and chemical analysis of Dead Sea mineral mud compounded ...
متن کاملResurrecting dead-water phenomenon
We revisit experimental studies performed by Ekman on dead-water (Ekman, 1904) using modern techniques in order to present new insights on this peculiar phenomenon. We extend its description to more general situations such as a three-layer fluid or a linearly stratified fluid in presence of a pycnocline, showing the robustness of dead-water phenomenon. We observe large amplitude nonlinear inter...
متن کاملThe dead sea: deepening of the mixolimnion signifies the overture to overturn of the water column.
Throttling of freshwater inputs into the meromictic Dead Sea weakened the long-term stability of the water column. Between 1975 and 1978 successive deepenings of the pycnocline from 70 meters to beyond 200 meters were recorded. Complete overturn finally took place during the winter of 1978-1979. This unique process was accompanied by changes in the geochemistry of several components.
متن کاملMicrobial community analysis of the hypersaline water of the Dead Sea using high‐throughput amplicon sequencing
Amplicon sequencing using next-generation technology (bTEFAP® ) has been utilized in describing the diversity of Dead Sea microbiota. The investigated area is a well-known salt lake in the western part of Jordan found in the lowest geographical location in the world (more than 420 m below sea level) and characterized by extreme salinity (approximately, 34%) in addition to other extreme conditio...
متن کاملWater sorption and electrical properties of a human nail.
BACKGROUND/PURPOSE Water absorption is important for the overall function of keratinized tissues like the stratum corneum and nail. Hence, measurement of water sorption dynamics and water content of these tissues is of great interest. METHODS We have studied water sorption and electrical properties of a human nail in a measuring cell where the temperature and relative hydration could be contr...
